Zambian footballer Racheal Kundananji has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the world’s most expensive women’s player just six years after her debut for Team Zambia. The 23-year-old sensation has secured a lucrative deal with Bay FC of the American National Women’s Soccer League valued at $860,000, marking a significant transfer from Madrid CFF.

Kundananji’s historic transfer sets a new global record, making her the first African player, male or female, to break the world transfer fee barrier. Her remarkable achievement eclipses the previous female record set in 2022, when Keira Walsh joined Barcelona in a deal worth £400,000.

Having made a promising start in 2018 with three goals for Zambia at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Kundananji’s ascent in the football world has been meteoric. During her 18-month stint with Madrid, she showcased her talent by scoring an impressive 33 Liga F goals in 43 games.

Now, the Zambia international will join forces with Nigerian star Asisat Oshoala, a six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year. Together, they form a formidable duo that is set to make waves in the world of women’s football, undoubtedly attracting envy from clubs across the globe.
